EMC Symmetrix VMAX 20K Series storage arrays

The following illustration shows the interconnection of the EMC Symmetrix VMAX 20K in the 700MX:

This illustration shows one UCS domain. With the 700MX, you can have a maximum of five UCS domains and

four EMC VMAX 20K engine pairs in a maximum configuration.

A 700MX enabled by SAN storage can support NAS with the provision that primary boot services are provided

across the SAN. Mission-critical applications are hosted that require fibre channel access to maintain

performance. It is recommended that one or more NAS gateways are deployed for VMware vSphere, the

exact number required being determined during the planning phase.

EMC PowerPath/VE (PP/VE) provides several benefits for block-based IOs in terms of performance,

availability, and operations. The base PP/VE license is mandatory for the 700MX.
